I had a wonderful time in New York. I loved meeting all of the Top Design designers, carpenters, and judges. I also got a chance to meet up with the gayboys, Tom and Lorenzo. And of course, it was such a thrill to finally meet the fabulous Laura Bennett and family.

I also had a chance to meet the one and only Andy Cohen from Bravo. Thank you for the mention in your blog, Andy. It was great meeting you too.

Suite Dreams - Top Design Episode 8

It was late March and the field had just been narrowed down to four. This must be the madness they call the Final Four.

Or not.

The designers went to the Viceroy Hotel to meet up with Todd and Linda O'Keefe from Metropolitan Home magazine. Todd gave them their next task: design a luxury hotel suite based on one of the four basic elements: Earth, Air, Water and Fire. They had three days and a budget of $30,000 for furniture, $3,000 for linens, and $1,550 for lumber and supplies.

Matt lucked out. He got Water. His baby blue room with white and translucent accents looked very light and airy. No doubt he was going to win this challenge.

Carisa drew Air. She made it a point not to paint little birds or puffy clouds on her walls. Instead, she and her carpenter Carl constructed large, black screens that mimicked air vents.

I don't know about you but I had this feeling of being trapped inside a ventilation duct. You know, like from a bad episode of The Land of the Giants. I can picture myself huddling behind the sofa hoping the big, giant pussy wouldn't lunge at me. My life story I know, but I digress.

The element of Fire perplexed Goil. He finally settled on a Chinese lantern-inspired sunset running along the back walls.

Andrea also encountered some problems with her Earth element. She already did an earthy room for last week's challenge. But unlike Carisa (who kept giving us bold colors and stripes), Andrea was mindful not to repeat herself.

In the White Room, the judges gave Matt the win (no surprise there). They also liked Carisa's bold statement.

Once again, the judges accused Andrea of having a sad aesthetic. They didn't like her somber color choices.

The judges really appreciated Goil's effort to dress his room this time. But sadly, they had to let him go.

Goil, you should have gone with your first instinct - turning the suite into a disco. After all, the judges could afford to loosen up a bit, don't you think?

I'm sorry it took so long to do this recap of Episode 8. Our beautiful cat, Serenity (pictured above peering through the vents) passed away last Wednesday. This chocolate brown, long-haired siamese cat has been with us for more than 12-1/2 years. He'll definitely be missed.

Pressure Cooker - Top Design Episode 7

In the boys' loft, Goil told Matt and Michael it was so painful being in the bottom position. Matt and Michael were both very familiar with this position.

Todd invited everyone to Norman's for lunch. There, he delivered the next challenge: design a chef's table for a mystery guest judge. They had two days and a budget of $2,000 for supplies and $40,000 for furniture.

Even with the limitless supply of energy drinks, Goil couldn't muster up the strength to move his floor panels. His carpenter, the Fabulous Sarah, came to the rescue.

Goil got even more frustrated. He wondered what could've happened to his fabulous super powers. Could it have been an act of sabotage? Or were his superhero tights giving him poor circulation problems?

Andrea used stone and suede for her walls. Michael wanted to put the focus on the food. Matt went with a dark woodsy feeling for his room. Goil tried to replicate the Hanging Gardens of Babylon. Carisa admitted she's not the natural type. So that makes her the fakey type.

The next day, Carisa had an eerie premonition that her carpenter Carl would drop the ball - well, actually the beam. She uprooted her tree and moved it out of harm's way just in time.

In the White Room, Goil was able to put two and two together. He discovered the REAL reason behind his diminishing powers.

After a long deliberation process, the judges sent Michael home for his drabby room. They gave Andrea her much deserved due for creating a beautiful room.

Chef Tom Colicchio really liked Andrea's room. But secretly, he was rooting for Matt's leather room.

On The Rocks - Top Design Episode 6

The six remaining designers met up with Todd outside in the PDC Plaza. Todd did some quick math and realized the number six is not a prime number. So he divided the designers into two teams of three. Andrea, Goil and Erik on one team. Matt, Carisa and Michael on the other team.

The assignment: design a party for Bacardi Limon.

Goil was so happy he and Andrea were on the same team. He compared Andrea to a top-of-the-line R2 unit. To me, she's more like a highly-advanced Nexxus-6 replicant from Blade Runner. She's extemely intelligent and devastatingly beautiful. And with those long legs, I bet you she's kicked some major ass in her lifetime.

Carisa and Michael bickered from the get go. Good thing Matt is a father of a four year old. He's used to dealing with big crybabies throwing hissy fits and temper tantrums.

Team Andrea/Goil/Erik didn't quarrel as much, but they experienced one miscommunication after another.

Andrea and Erik wanted to play the lead roles. Goil wasn't happy being relegated to the supporting cast.

You know what? Goil is right yet again. I can't picture him as that ever-suffering Jan Brady. He's just too damn cute and adorable. The perfect person to take on the role of Cindy - the youngest one in curls.

Team Matt/Carisa/Michael created a black and white tent. Despite all of their in-fighting, the tent turned out pretty nice – albeit on the safe side.

Team Andrea/Goil/Erik pushed the envelope and went for a more avant-garde look. They didn't want to play it safe. And by doing so, they bruised each other's feelings.

The judges gave Team Matt/Carisa/Michael the win. Jonathan Adler wanted to pin Team Andrea/Goil/Erik's loss on one single designer. He asked them who was responsible for the overall vision of their tent. I was waiting for Carisa to jump in. You know how she likes to take credit for everything.

Well, Erik valiantly fell on his sword, telling the judges the overall vision was his. Bye-bye, Erik.

So what is up with the rivalry between Margaret and Kelly? Trying to one-up each other for extra camera time is getting a little old, don't you think?

Garage Proposal - Top Design Episode 5

The seven remaining designers met up with their new client, the Bell family. The assignment: clean out the Bell's garage and design a multi-use space that could also accommodate their new GMC Acadia – a novel concept for a garage.

Part of the assignment was to build a maquette, a small preliminary model they would later use to present to the client.

News flash, Carisa. In the real world, designing women (and men) don't lounge around on the couch, eat bon-bons and gab with their friends all day. They roll up their sleeves, break a sweat and do their best to please the client.

The Bell family picked Andrea's design. She now has the arduous task of leading the design team. In return, she gets automatic immunity.

It's now time to divvy up the carpenters. Having won the last project, Carisa got first dibs. She picked Carl, Andrea picked Blair, Matt picked Ed, Goil picked Sarah, Ryan picked Robert, Michael picked Cary, and Erik picked Jared. It was kind of sad seeing some of my favorite carpenters get passed over.

Andrea assigned each designer a task they were most comfortable doing. Being the artist, Ryan was entrusted with painting the gray stripes on the concrete floor. Matt was good with organizing. Michael can do wonders with fabric and drapery. Erik helped out with some of the construction. And Carisa was used to being banished to another room.

Goil spent most of his time working on a dog bed – with wheels. I say if Goil had painted the dog bed red, that dog would be the envy of the neighborhood.

Now it's time for judging. Kelly Wearstler came back from her Trekkie convention just in time.

Even though the Bells liked their new garage, the judges weren't too thrilled. Because Ryan didn't turn the garage into the next Sistene Chapel, the judges sent his artsy-fartsy ass home.

You know what Goil? You are so right. If you take your glasses off and stand on some phone books, you really do look like Andrea Junior.

For the second week in a row, the judges made fun of Michael's fruity color choices. Michael, honey, if you're really fond of grapes and bananas, then I say just go for it. There's no shame in letting people know you covet the grapes and the bananas. Fine choices if you ask me.

Dubious Yawnur Awards

The much-anticipated First Annual Dubious Yawnur Awards were handed out last week at the beautiful downtown YMCA cafetorium. Many distinguished nominees and guests were in attendance.

The winner in the"In the Mood" category (for garments made out of traditional fabrics), as determined by the poll on Project Yawnur, was Angela Keslar. She won for the outfit she made for that ever-busy au pair art student who moonlights as both a dogwalker and a streetwalker.

Angela was so shocked that she won!

In the "Not in the Mood" poll (for garments made out of non-traditional materials), Vincent Libretti took home the top honors. His barely-walking art canvas edged out Wendy Pepper's candy and balloon bikini.

In his acceptance speech, Vincent said this award meant a lot to him. He can now list this accomplishment on his resume in hope that one day he could dress more wives of d-list nominees.

A dejected Santino Rice slinkered out of the cafetorium after finding out he didn't win. He came in a close second to Angela in the In the Mood category.

Congratulations, Angela and Vincent. Isn't it just kismet that brought you two back together again?

Junkyard Dawgs - Top Design Episode 4

Unlike the first few challenges, the designers got a chance to interview their clients before they started to design. Their clients knew a thing or two about design because they themselves are studying Interior Design.

Felicia was so happy she and her client, Mary, had similar design sensibilities. It was as if she'd found her own little Mini-Me.

Todd dropped by the lofts early the next morning to deliver a few dozen muffins and one teeny tiny twist. Instead of shopping for furniture and accessories at a store, they'll be hitting the garage sale circuit. With their morning java and $500 in hand, the designers went rummaging for design inspirations.

Goil stumbled upon a kilt that brought back some fond memories of the time he went on tour with the Riverdance troupe. (Is there anything this guy can't do?)

Back in the showroom, the designers reworked their newly acquired pieces, turning old junks into valuable treasures. They got a little help from their carpenters. The operative word being "little."

Andrea put things into neutral. Carisa gave her client some clean lines. Erik created a room splattered with scary paintings. Felicia stitched together a room complete with an afghan and a roadkill. Goil redefined hideaway beds. Matt created a tasteful Armani Casa-inspired room. Michael had fun playing with his banana and grapes. Ryan got all dark and brooding.

Some of these rooms were actually downright scary. They were creepy ... and they're kooky ... Mysterious ... and spooky ... They're all together ooky ... Oh well, you know what I mean.

Thing also came along. He got to hang out with Ryan in the confessionals. I don't know about you but I think Ryan can be a bad influence.

After a long deliberation process, the judges sent Felicia home for her mismatched room. Carisa won with her sparsely decorated dormroom. I don't know what was more shocking, giving Carisa the win or letting Felicia go after she made one misstep.

All of this craziness left Cousin Itt a bit frazzled.

It's time to nominate the Fugliest clothes ever seen on any season of Project Runway in the "In the Mood" category. Unlike the first category, these clothes were made from fabrics either purchased at Mood or were provided to the designers by Banana Republic or Macy's.

The nominations will close on Wednesday (2/28) at Noon Eastern.

Beachy Attitudes - Top Design Episode 3

The nine remaining designers were divided into three teams of three. Team Tahiti consisted of Felicia, Andrea and Michael. Elizabeth, Erik and Matt made up Team Miami. And Goil, Ryan and Carisa formed Team St. Tropez. Their mission was to build a cabana inspired by their assigned resort destinations.

Ryan and Carisa began to butt heads immediately. Carisa thought she should've been the natural choice to go shopping at Pier 1. Instead she got stuck with fabric shopping. Ryan didn't like either roles, but felt more comfortable shopping for furniture and knick-knacks than frilly fabric.

Carisa had enough of Ryan's bad behavior.

Goil was too busy building the structure to play the role of the referee. He said he works best on individual challenges. I would too if I had to work with Ryan and Carisa. But you know what? He really CAN do everything. Although ... he can be a bit of a show-off at times.

The next morning, the designers had to construct, assemble and furnish their cabanas on-site at the beach. This was no day at the beach, though. Well, except for Carisa. She thought it would be more fun lathering up the hot-looking carpenters than doing the actual work. I don't blame her.

The judges arrived at the beach to evaluate the cabanas. We were introduced to the guest judge, Kathryn Ireland. First thought I had was, "Oh wow, a former Sports Illustrated swimsuit model judging a challenge on the beach. How appropriate." I was a bit disappointed, to say the least.

Back in the White Room, the judges awarded Team Tahiti the win - even though their cabana went topless. The winning team members get to spend a weekend at a spa to see what a real cabana should look like. They then singled out Elizabeth from Team Miami and blamed her for making bad color choices. Well, color me blue.

The whole Brit-Brit meltdown got me thinking. Maybe the producers should've plied the TD designers with liquor then left an electric clipper somewhere in the house – just to watch what happens.

OK, so they did this with Top Chef 2 already. At least the viewers would've had something exciting to talk about until the next Kelly Wearstler outfit.

The Dubious Yawnur Awards Nominations

Since we're in the middle of the Awards Season, I thought I'd create an award for the Fugliest designs ever seen on all three seasons of Project Runway.

Introducing the 1st Annual Dubious Yawnur Awards.

To help compile this list of nominees, I'm going to need a little help from you.

Just to be fair to the designers, I am going to create two separate categories. I don't think you should compare making a dress out of recycled mylar with traditional fabric. That's why for the first week's nomination, we will only nominate outfits made out of non-traditional materials. Or what I would call the "Not in the Mood" category. This includes: Season 1's Innovation/Grocery Store Challenge, Season 1's Design a Collection/Modernistic Vintage Clothing Challenge, Season 2's Clothes Off Your Back Challenge, Season 2's Flower Power/Garden Party Challenge, Season 3's Innovation/Wall-to-Wall Challenge, and finally, Season 3's Waste Not/Recycling Challenge.

The nominations will be open until next Wednesday (2/21) at Noon Eastern. At that time, we will begin nominations for the "In the Mood" category. This category will cover all of the other challenges where the designers had control over the choice of fabrics that they either bought from Mood or were given to them by Banana Republic or Macy's.

Later that Wednesday afternoon, the voting for the first category, "Not in the Mood", will begin. The voting will continue until the following Wednesday (2/28) at Noon Eastern. That's also when the nominations for the second category, "In the Mood", will close. And we'll start to vote on that category.

I Kid. You Not. - TD Episode 2

For the second week in a row, we have a challenge designed around a mystery client– actually, ten mystery clients. But unlike last week's team challenge, the designers will work on their projects individually.

The remaining designers each received a dossier with their new clients' profile. Who knew in order to become a successful interior designer you needed to have some investigative and intuitive skills to help ID your client. Do they even offer a class in Forensic Science at the leading design schools?

The designers were given an initial budget of $8,000, hardwood flooring and $600 for hardware and supplies. Their mission was to construct a bedroom for their new client.

John was enraged that Felicia picked the hardwood sample he was eyeing. He decided to forego the free hardwood flooring. Instead, he told his carpenter to go buy some linoleum flooring.

Midway through the design process, Todd Oldham threw out a few curveballs.

He revealed the big twist: their clients were actually kids, around 10 years of age. Also, the beds they were building should accommodate a twin size mattress.

Andrea whipped together an ambitious bedroom that included a murphy's bed. Carisa transported her client to the Amazon jungles. Elizabeth had a ball building a soccer-themed room. Erik went overboard recreating a Pirate ship. Felicia created a stateroom for her young client. Goil built a clean, modern room with a bed on wheels. Matt turned the spotlight on his future Hollywood starlet. Ryan splashed some cool blue waves on the walls and accessorized the room in hot pink cat furniture.

Michael completed his room (installed the hardwood floor and painted the walls) all by himself. Too bad the room looked like it was designed for an elderly person.

John simply ran out of time. He also ran out of patience with his carpenter, who didn't come back from the hardware store with a floor.

Now it was time for lockdown. The designers lined up outside their sterile 12 x 12 cells awaiting the judges' arrival.

In the White Room, the designers were quizzed about the choices they made. Goil treated us to an impromptu lesson on the Theorem of Spatial Displacement.

The judges gave Erik the win and John the kiss off for his unfinished room. John tried his best to keep the raging testosterone beast in check.

So now we know the lead judge, Jonathan Adler, came up with the dreaded "See you later, decorator" phrase. He also described John as the "Mayor of Excuses Village." Note to Mr. Adler: coming up with cute little phrases only work if you're a six year old, for which you are not. For crying out loud, you're a middle-aged man. How about saying things in plain English. Don't try to outdo each other coming up with funny zingers and catchy soundbytes?

Can Heather Pull a Franco?

Oh, Heather. It was so unfair when the judges latered you in Episode 1. Wasn't it nice to hear Todd Oldham say on Andy's "Watch What Happens" show that all of the judges loved you and wanted to find a way to bring you back?

Hey, maybe if this show gets picked up for Season 2, you can pull a Franco and audition again. They would love to see you back. And so would I.

Whatever you do, just make sure you follow your bliss!

Howdy, Partner - TD Episode 1

One by one, the designers entered their lofts. They checked out their competion and sized each other up.

All the usual suspects were there: the diva, the loud one, the prima donna, the ingenue, the villain, the pretty one, the bully, and the quiet one to watch out for.

The designers were summoned by Todd Oldham to meet up at the Pacific Design Center. Todd delivered their first challenge: in teams of two, they were to design a serene inner sanctum for the mystery judge. To clue them into who this mystery judge could be (or more importantly, what his or her taste would be like), Todd presented them with five funky objects that came from the mystery judge's home.

John and Michael clashed from the onset. John turned out to be an overbearing ogre who didn't want anything to do with his new partner. Try as he might, Michael kept getting the brush off. Even in the White Room, the judges could feel the tension between the two. I think ultimately this ogre will have a change of heart. As the fairy tale goes, we know the ogre will soon discover his fondness for the ass.

Lisa and Heather worked together on their room. I knew trouble was brewing when Lisa said she likes to be in control and she likes to work by herself. She's been in this business for quite some time so she knows exactly what she wanted.

Heather hasn't been doing this quite as long, but she seemed pretty eager to pitch in. But Lisa thought otherwise. She made sure Heather knew who was in charge. Lisa went on to create a zenful asian room centered around a huge Chinese wedding bed. How she arrived at that from those five funky objects? I'm not too sure.

Goil and Elizabeth created a fun swinging room. Carisa and Erik created a tasteful, albeit chunky, room with a long wooden fireplace and mantle. Ryan and Andrea went with a bright and funky dormroom. Felicia and Matt created an understated room using a neutral color palette.

The judges eliminated Lisa and Heather. They thought their room was too theme-y. Heather started to beat herself up wishing she could have voiced her objections louder to help steer them away from the Chinese restaurant theme room.

Goil and Elizabeth were named the winners for this week's competition. The judges thought their room was innovative and fresh. Well actually, Margaret Russell, judge and Elle Décor magazine's Editor in Chief, didn't really like it that much. She thought the sand and rake reminded her of the litterbox she had at home.

I'm Back!!!

Thank you everyone for checking back in. I took a little siesta in January. But now I'm back well-rested and ready to start Yawnurizing Top Design and catching up with the Project Runway gang.

Don't know about you but I'm kinda glad I didn't blog Top Chef 2. While I did enjoy watching the first season, I thought season 2 got downright mean and nasty. Sure, Season 1 had Tiffany "the bitch" and Steven "the prima donna." But at least there were other enjoyable characters to root for: Leeanne, Harold and that emotional-wreck David.

On Season 2, I wanted Sam to win. I really can't stand Betty, Ilan, or Elia. Grow up, you guys! Sure, Marcel can be a pompous know-it-all at times but just worry about your own damn cooking. It was obvious the producers were more worried about the spiciness of the cast than the spiciness of the dishes.

Are they looking for the next Top Chef or the next Tough Chef? If that's the case, then why don't they go ahead and change the name of the network to Bravado TV.

Now onto Top Design. Being a part of Team BPR/BTD, I was greatful enough to get a sneak peak at the first episode. While nothing can compare to my number one show, Project Runway, Top Design does have potential. Compared to the HGTV show, Design Star, the contestants are waaaaay more qualified (case in point: scary art lady with the vacuum cleaner/art piece).

I also like a lot of the designers/contestants on Top Design. They're all crazy-talented - not just crazy. So sure, Todd Oldham and the judges are a little rough around the edges, but give them a little time to settle in and they'll be fine.

According to this Entertainment Weekly article, Tim Gunn has NOT YET been signed on for Season 4. Are the Producers crazy? They've secured the host Heidi Klum, and the two resident judges: Michael Kors, and Nina Garcia – but not Tim!

Along with Heidi, he IS the face of Project Runway. He's helped make this show an American institution and has become an icon, in his own right. He's also the heart and soul of the show.

I hope the Producers will live up to their words and invite "the whole team will be back." Including Tim Gunn.

Baby Boy for Laura and Peter

Baby Boy for Heidi and Seal

Heidi Klum gave birth to a beautiful baby boy last Wednesday evening in Los Angeles. This is Heidi's third child, second with her husband, grammy-winning artist, Seal.

Johan Riley Fyodor Taiwo Samuel weighed in at 8 pounds, 11 ounces and was said to look just like his mom. He joins his older brother Henry and older sister Leni.

By now, Heidi's amazing body should be back to its normal state.

Here's to my two favorite designers from Season 3, Robert Best and Kayne Gillaspie. The duo fought off the evil wrongdoers and the injustices in the workroom. They ratted out the hardened criminals and kept peace among the designers. There's no ambiguity about their kindness or their generosity.

Jeffrey Wins By a Neck - Finale/Part 2

Last week's Sturm und Drang spilled over into this week's episode. The tension inside the Macy's workroom was getting a bit unbearable so Jeffrey decided to hang out on the terrace.

Since Jeffrey couldn't come up with the receipt for the pleatwork on the bubble shorts, he had to pull them from his collection.

Tim Gunn also told Jeffrey he was over his $8,000 budget. So, Jeffrey sent the blondes packing.

It is now the morning of the runway show. Laura's jittery nerves made it difficult for her to tame her wild tresses.

Jeffrey was the first to show. He said his collection was inspired by Japanese stories about ghosts and demons.

Uli was next with her tropical safari collection. She mixed an element of silver into her collection of flowy print dresses.

Laura went next with a bedazzling collection of beads, baubles and feathers. She said she wanted to pump up the volume. That's a good thing since the women in her target market have already started wearing hearing aids.

Michael said his collection was made possible by the Letter S. He said the Street Safari stuff was sexy, secure, sensual and sophisticated. I say it's slinky, sorta suggestive, slightly smutty and somewhat salacious.

Back on the Parsons runway later that day, Michael had to defend his taste level. Fern Mallis, guest judge for this episode, wished his collection could have lived up to his fans' expectations. Sadly it didn't.

Michael was the first designer to get the kiss-off. They then booted Laura for her limited repertoire. Now it was down to Uli and Jeffrey. The judges thought Jeffrey's collection had a bit more edge than Uli's, so they gave him the win.

Jeffrey is now telling everyone he created this dark brooding character and played it up on camera. I guess Heidi was right last season when she said everyone in L.A. is an actor. Maybe the Academy of Television Arts & Sciences could create a category just for him.

Tim Gunn is not one to sit around and twiddle his thumbs. Having the day job at Parsons was not enough for him. So after the show wrapped, he found himself a part time job.

I guess he can't wait for the new season to start. Well, neither can't I.

Thank you for helping me make this a fun site. We surely needed to find a way to amuse ourselves this season since the producers went all dramarama on us.

As much as I bitch about this season, I still like it a lot. At least it's still better than a lot of shows out there. Besides, as much as I dislike Vincent, and Angela, and Keith, and Jeffrey ... oh where was I going with this? Oh yeah, at least they were good fodder for some funny material.

What's next you ask? Well, I'll continue to do fun stuff on here and on Blogging Project Runway. Once I can wrap myself around Top Chef (and then Top Design in January) I'll certainly dish about them too!

Model Behavior

The main focus of Project Runway has always been the designers and their designs. We often forget about the models because they make it seem so effortless.

Tonight's the night we find out who will appear in the highly-coveted spread in ELLE magazine. Good luck to the remaining four models: Marilinda, Nazri, Camilla, and Clarissa.

As far as I'm concerned, you guys are already winners!

Four Play Before the Climax - Finale/Part 1

Before they sent the final four home to work on their collections, Tim Gunn and Heidi Klum gave their final words of advice, then walked arm-in-arm off into the sunset.

Oh, I can see it now on a future scandalous segment of "Who's the Daddy - Paternity Test" on the Maury Povich show.

About a month later, Tim visited Michael and his family in Hotlanta. We learn that Michael is now wearing braces and that he once had aspirations to become a beautician.

Tim then stopped by Laura's loft in New York City. We get to meet her husband Peter and the four rambunctious young boys they produced together.

Next up, we get to see Uli in her much-touted Miami Beach locale. She recounted her tales of growing up in oppressed conditions in what was then East Germany. After watching a bootleg copy of Miami Vice, Uli was determined to one day move to Miami.

Come to think of it, I do remember what a big influence that show had on the fashion industry.

Finally, Tim visited Jeffrey in L.A. We get to hear his sob story, yet again. We also get to meet his girfriend and their son, Harrison. We certainly can see the family resemblance.

After touring Jeffrey's sewing facility, Tim headed back to Gotham.

About a month later, the designers reconvened in New York City. They were there to put the finishing touches on their Olympus Fashion Week collections.

It was also time for the all important model selection.

After seeing Jeffrey dilly-dallying around the workroom, Laura accused him of using "unaccounted for" outside help to sew his garments. Tim told Laura that though this would be hard to prove, the producers will conduct a thorough investigation.

With not much else to do, I think Jeffrey spent most of his time in the breakroom loading up on his favorite - BBQ pork ribs.

So who will Chloe Dao crown as her successor on this week's Season 3 Finale? I guess we'll just have to wade through the pageantry and watch what happens.

Drawn Out Characters

Did the characters on this season of Project Runway remind you of cartoon characters? In other words, did they appear one-dimensional? The villains were portrayed with such villainy, they lacked any subtlety or shading.

At least with Santino Rice, the villain from PR2, the impersonation he did of Tim Gunn made him seem a bit more three-dimensional.

Gathering and Puckering - Reunion Episode

This episode was actually pretty fun to watch. They showed alot of cute clips. It's beyond me why they chose consternation and sturm und drang over fun and frivolity.

Speaking of sturm und drang, they invited Keith Michael back for the reunion show. He rambled off some far-fetched conspiracy theories. The other designers didn't buy the stories – nor did they seem to care. Normally, I'm a good judge of BSing, but the blank look on his face threw me for a loop.

Things got a little tense and people got a little terse. Feeling a bit uncomfortable, Heidi laid down the law.

A reunion wouldn't be complete without humiliation. I've always known Jeffrey was full of hot air and stinky shit, now everyone else does too! Was it a coincidence that the carbon monoxide detector got tripped off and the models passed out all while Jeffrey was present? I think not.

Well, speaking of food, I'm glad Heidi found time to sneak in a little snack during the taping of the show (hey, remember she's eating for two now).

After Heidi finished up her snack, she confronted Vincent about his ew.com interview. In the interview, he trash-talked Tim Gunn AND the other designers. He also said he doesn't like seeing blogspots. Good thing for him, researchers have found a way to manage this problem.

Then they showed a very disturbing clip of Vincent chewing out the producers over how his laundry was done. I don't know what the fuss was all about. At least the shirts didn't come back on flimsy, wire hangers.

Do you know what the most absurd thing was about the whole situation? He paid $125 for those shirts. Even if the three shirts combined totaled $125, he was still robbed.

They asked a few contestants from previous seasons to weigh in on who they liked the best. Jay McCarroll said it's obvious the black guy would win this season. Kara Janx and Daniel Vosovic liked Uli, Daniel Franco picked Laura, and Robert Plotkin picked Daniel Franco.

Chloe Dao said Michael Knight is a male, black version of herself. You know what? I've never looked at it that way before, but I think she's right.

Personally, I think Chloe reminds me of Season 1 winner, Jay McCarroll. Maybe she's onto something.

Wasn't it great that they gave Vincent a day pass from the asylum to attend the taping of the Reunion show? That's so nice of them.

Just a note, Vincent, your new jacket is Perma-Press and wash-and-wear ready.

The Awful Auf-less Episode – Week 11

This was an odd episode. The producers ran out of fresh ideas for the challenge, so they let the designers do their own thing. In the end, they were all sent home ... to prepare for their upcoming OFW collections.

I don't know about you, but like watching a good porn flick (or even a mediocre one, I guess), I expected to see someone get off!

So, now we have to eliminate three models. Laura stayed true to Camilla. Uli was up next. She allowed the evil voodoo spirit of Shatangi to overtake her body. For a brief moment, the sweet Uli turned into Zuli (I guess that's what she meant when she said, "The bitch is going to come out."). She snatched Nazri away from Michael and left him in a lurch.

Michael decided to go with Clarissa and Jeffrey went steady with Marilinda. Amanda was left speechless, for the first time in her life.

Now, we're off to see Professor Garcia. She instructed them on the importance of having an editorial-worthy collection.

Working without any restrictions or guidelines, both Michael and Uli struggled. Laura made a conscious decision to churn out another beaded cocktail dress. Jeffrey changed his radio dial from Hard Rock to Easy Listening.

Now, what did the judges think about the final runway challenge leading up to OFW? I think Nina got a little bored - and a little confused. She wasn't impressed at all.

"Don't bore Nina!"

I wasn't too sure how the guest judge would react either. I guess I was waiting for the 2-snap salute, but I didn't see it. For the most part, she "HATED IT!"

The judges called Laura a one-note. They were confused about both Jeffrey and Michael. So by default, Uli won for her short-cropped beach wrap that can be worn in Miami. Her dress will be featured in the First Look section in ELLE magazine.

Let's hear it for the fabulously glamorous Laura Bennett. She is the ultimate multitasker. Not only can she sketch, design, drape, cut, sew and fit in the allotted time, BUT she finds the time to glue beads, baubles, feathers and sparkles to complete the look. How does she ever find time to do it all?

Uli Rocked It!

Update on "Mini" Mouse

Before appearing on Project Runway, Minnie Mouse was best known for being Mickey Mouse's, um ... longtime companion. She was so happy to have been chosen as Alison's runway model for the "Waste Not. Want Not." challenge, she even did a little jig.

Even though she endured some unpleasant ribbing from Alison about her body shape and size, it was Heidi Klum's comment that hurt her the most.

After the show wrapped, Minnie had some serious doubts about her burgeoning modeling career. Can she continue to model even though she's not a size 0? Must she conform to the unrealistic ideals and demands of the modeling industry?

All of that shame, humiliation and self-doubt made her re-examine her body. In order to continue modeling, she felt she had no choice but to go on a strict diet. Recently, she's been spotted looking very emaciated and frail. "I worry about her," her friend Daisy Duck confided, "She doesn't look too healthy."

Hopefully, Minnie Mouse (and other stars like Kate Bosworth and Nicole Richie) can realize the dangerous risks they're taking and what kind of damage they can do to their bodies – before it's too late.

Even though this is a satire piece, eating disorders are no laughing matter. In all seriousness, if you or someone you care about, suffer from a serious eating disorder, please seek professional help.

You can always count on the steadfast Michael Kors. He's the go-to guy for an honest opinion and a snappy remark ("She looks like a paper brioche!"). I really missed him when he was gone (episodes 2 - 5 of this season). Nina, Heidi, and the fill-in, Vera Wang, were all OK, but they can't snark like him.

OK, so he's a little predictable at times (black coat/black t-shirt). But, I don't think I'll get tired of him anytime soon.

Let's try to build up our vocabulary by using big and fancy words that even Tim Gunn would be proud using. Who says you can't learn something useful by watching Project Runway?

On Again, Auf Again – Week 10

The five remaining designers were invited to a private party at the swanky Pink Elephant. Heidi hinted that they would be joined by a few special guests. The champagne started to flow – and then came their woe.

Their jaws dropped to the floor as Vincent, and then Angela, made their way back into the game. Yes, the dreaded twist – and his nemesis, now have a chance to show at Olympus Fashion Week.

Who knew the producers had Angela and Vincent cryogenically preserved, only to be revived at a later date? Everyone was in shock, to say the least.

The designers were given their new challenge: design a cocktail dress using only black and white fabric. Somehow, Kayne missed that part.

Kayne, I know you automatically tune Angela out (and so would I), but what was going through your pretty little head when Tim said you had to use BOTH colors?

Poor, Laura. The news of Angela and Vincent's return, coupled with the scathing critique she received for her couture gown, rocked her to the core. Her neural circuitry wasn't programmed to handle that many raw human emotions. Her cool exterior started to crumble and her confidence level was badly shaken.

But, Laura pulled it together just in time to win her first challenge. She made damn well sure that dress was totally aged-down. Brava!

Uli created a crazy-print, party dress. Angela did a white collar job. Michael gave Nazri a black belt so she can kick some serious butt. Vincent made a big curtain valance. Jeffrey pimped Marilinda out and made her work. Too bad, no one bought it.

And Kayne went black, but unfortunately he never came back. He got auffed, along with Angela and Vincent.

Uli, if you ever get tired of making flowy, crazy-print, party dresses, you could always find a job with the Miami Convention and Visitor's Bureau. You've done a great job selling the sandy beaches, the warm weather, and the fun atmosphere that Miami is known for.

Oddly enough, I have this strange compulsion to swill some Moet, log onto orbitz.com, and book a seat on the next flight out to Miami on Delta Airlines.

Comedy Routine

Robert and Kayne provided most of the light and humorous moments in a drama-filled season. They were the sunshine that lit up the gloomy workroom at Parsons.

The two designers bonded quickly upon their arrival in New York. They traded catty remarks and sharpened their wits. But unfortunately, most of the funnier moments ended up on the cutting room floor.

I think their quick wit and humor deserve a showcase. I know I would totally watch them if they had their own comedy show. Just imagine, one could play the “straight man,” so to speak. While the other one could be the more exuberant and outlandish character that loves to wear Bob Mackie clothes. How perfect is that?

The Seine and the Not-So Sane - Week 9

Before Jeffrey even had a chance to celebrate his first victory (and more importantly, Angela's auffing), Catherine Malandrino gave them their next challenge: create a couture-like gown in two days with a US$375 budget.

Couture is all about intricate handwork and attention to details – which are two things in which Angela took pride. I shudder just thinking about the floral arrangement we would have seen, had she not been auffed.

After a relaxing dinner and a good night's rest, the designers started the new day with a wake-up call from Tim Gunn. They then headed off to the Sacre Coeur to do their sketching. On the way there, Jeffrey befriended a cute Parisian guy on the Métro, to Vincent's dismay.

Uli resisted the bright prints, but fell back on her standby "effort"less look. Laura relied on her simple, classic lines, then added a Swiffer Duster collar for dramatic flair. Michael wanted to try something new - a hand ruching technique that worked so well for Malan. Kayne contrasted a soft chiffon skirt with a gold, beaded corset. Jeffrey combined two similar plaids to make a fun and hip frock. And, Vincent constructed a chaise lounge.

The designers were then invited to a party on a boat, hosted by Catherine Malandrino. The timing couldn't have been more perfect, as she was finishing up her welding project. (Remember, always think safety first!)

Now it's time for the designers to sell their gowns. Catherine strolled around from one designer to the next, examining their handiwork and asking them questions.

Not one to be topped by a woman, Vincent had other ideas in mind.

Last week, Kayne was channeling Elvis. This week, it's Pepe Le Pew.

The designers then flew back to New York, eager to show the judges what they've learned on their field trip. Jeffrey's plaid-extravagownza clinched him his second victory. It came closest to what a couture gown was supposed to be. (I think the word couture, roughly translated, means: Too ugly to reproduce.)

Uli's dress was pretty, but somewhat expected. Too bad for Laura, her collar went flaccid on her.

Nina Garcia thought the top on Vincent's gown was poorly fitted, so they spun the model's head around.

Michael had a little malfunction on the runway. His bunny rabbit didn't cooperate. Heidi quickly pointed out the bunny ears peeking out of Nazri's chest area. Boy, it nearly ruined his act.

So, Vincent finally got his walking papers. I thought I'd give him a proper sendoff. For the man who is still living in the '70s, let's do the time-warp ... again. Let's do the time-warp ... again.

OFW Fantastic Four?

Could this be the "Fantastic Four" who are showing their collections at this week's Olympus Fashion Week? They all have their own super strengths, but now they'll have to battle each other for the grand prize.

(Don't mean to dis you, Kayne. I think the judges already have it out for you and it'll be hard for you to overcome that. I think you are extremely talented and you've accomplished so much at such a young age. I'm sure you'll be around for a long, long time.)

The Invisible Woman – Uli Herzner

Uli went unnoticed for most of the season. I'm pretty sure she was on the show. In fact, she won the Dog challenge in Week 3.

The judges labeled her the "Party Dress Print-cess." She has this wonderful ability to matchy-match prints. But, can Uli break out of that mold and deliver a dazzling collection (one that doesn't rely on flip-flops)? We'll just have to wait and see.

The Thing – Jeffrey Sebelia

It's clobbering time! Jeffrey's on a mission and doesn't care who he steamrolls over. Let's just say sensitivity is not his strong suit. But like Jeffrey himself, his designs can be brash and in-your-face. In fashion, that could very well be a good thing.

Can this one-time rocker bring down the house at OFW? Or will they tell him he's just a one-note designer?

Ms. Fantastic – Laura Bennett

Laura's the master of the rubber-faced expressions. She can even make her body expand right before our eyes! But can she expand her repertoire, or is it a stretch to ask her to do something out of her comfort zone?

So far, she's the only one without a win under her stylish, crystal-encrusted, bow-tie belt. But, don't let that fool you. This lady usually gets what she wants.

The Human Torch – Michael Knight

He's HOT! He's on fire! And I'll bet you his collection will be smokin'!

Week after week, Michael turned out some of the best, most innovative designs. Don't forget, he was the first back-to-back winner this season. His versatility and his ability to think things through helped position him as the one to beat. But his warmth and loving nature made him a fan favorite.

Wake, Rattle, and Roll – Week 8

Watching the recap from the previous week, I was reminded of Robert's untimely departure. *Sob* *Sob* Can we please have a moment of silence for the very talented Robert Best?

Even though I'm still in mourning, the (recapping of the) show must go on.

The designers were told they're designing an outfit for an international jet-setter.

Poor, Kayne. His first thought was Tara "boob-flashing" Reid. True, someone needs to slap some nice clothes on that trashy body of hers, but girlfriend, Tara doesn't jet-set. She takes trips. And by "trips" I mean she smashes her face on the pavement whenever she's shitfaced. Which is pretty much an everyday occurrence.

Now, we find out they're actually designing for themselves. This shouldn't be a difficult task for the designers, since they already know what they like. But, poor Vincent. He's having a hard time interviewing the other voices in his head.

They were given 15 minutes to sketch before heading out to Mood. Hmm, I wonder who made this sketch of himself?

Let's see, a fauxhawk hairdo and a big clown nose. Oh yeah, it's that Bozo, Jeffrey. You know, the one who made Angela's mom cry last week. Apparently, he's still whining about it. Little Jeffy, you need to grow up! It's a little embarassing when your toddler-aged son is more mature than you.

When I saw Kayne picking out that huge butterfly wing at Mood, I let out a big ol' *gasp!* Kayne usually gets it oh-so-right or oh-so-wrong (See previous post). This look was a definite Kayn't. Right now, I'm just hoping this Madame Butterfly doesn't do herself in in the final act.

They now have to strut their own stuff down the runway. Laura looked stunning in her creation. Kayne was channeling Elvis. Angela was on her way to a quilting bee. Michael hip-hopped his way to the front of the pack. Jeffrey rocked it out (all the while showing us his family jewels). Uli breezed through in her signature pah-ty dress. And, Vincent sleepwalked through yet another challenge. This time, he's even wearing his pajamas.

The judges were pretty hard on Uli. They wanted to see something different from her. I thought the dress looked pretty comfortable. I can actually see her wearing that dress while she goosesteps down the beach in Miami.

Vincent was also singled out. They thought his outfit was just too basic. His response was, "I'm the TWIST." Umm, no Vincent. You're more like the TWIT!

Speaking of twists, Heidi said they'll have to test their new outfits on that other runway. So, off to Gay Paree they go.

After a long day of travel, the designers made their way to Parsons Paris. No time for a rest - or even a shower, the stinky designers met up with the famous Catherine Malandrino. Luckily, the foul body smells didn't phase our guest judge too much. She is French, after all.

Now, this would've been a great time for a new product tie-in – like for a personal hygiene product.

Jeffrey wins with his rocker outfit. I thought Laura deserved the win. If not for anything else, she had to travel in those 4" heels. Unfortunately for Angela, Mademoiselle Malandrino didn't speak Fleurchon. She sent Angela back to the U.S.

I'm not sure if rosettes and fleurchons will ever catch on, but until then, I did find one good use for them:

I guess I'll take that as a "no."

Momma Mia! - Week 7

This episode started off much like this season – with so much promise, but it went quickly downhill from there.

The moms and sisters came out from behind the scrim to surprise the designers. If not for anything else, it gave us a clearer picture as to how the designers got to be the way they are today.

Everyone started to cry tears of joy until Heidi dropped “zie bomb” and made them cry for real.

The designers had to design an everyday outfit for one of the other designer’s mom/sister. Kayne said he picked Pam (Michael’s mom) because they had so much in common. The rhinestones on her sandals made HER toes twinkle – and Kayne IS a big ol' Twinkletoe!

Now, we’re off to see the ~~Wizard~~ Oompa Loompa at the Tavern on the Green.

Michael Kors was there with his mother, who looks like a MORE masculine version of her son. OK, who am I kidding. She's a masculine version of her son.

Back at Parsons, the other designers were busy making their garments while little Jeffy played hide-and-go-seek with Angela’s mom, Darlene. Later, we see Angela consoling her mom in the breakroom. Jeffrey’s mom came over and made an excuse for her little Jeffy. I thought she was going to go back to Jeffy’s workspace to slap some sense into him. But alas, she rewarded her son’s bad behavior by nuzzling him close to her bosom. No wonder Jeffrey is the way he is!

In my book, making a woman cry is downright criminal. I don’t care if you were sober or falling down drunk, there’s just no excuse for making someone's mom cry. Unless you were over there chopping onions, I don’t want to hear about it!

So now we’re on the runway. Uli’s dress for Kayne’s mom looked like the clear winner (or at least a "see-through" winner).

But, they gave the win to Vincent instead. He did an OK job for Uli’s mom. I can’t quite put my finger on it, but there’s just something missing. Maybe it needed a little more accessorizing. How about one of his signature whackadoo hats?

Now that’s much better. All we’re missing is Santino’s turkey outfit from last season. Which one you ask? You’re right, I should have been more specific. He had quite a few turkeys last year.

To maintain the balance in the universe after last week’s auffing of the “offbeat” Alison, the judges decided to give the “boring” Robert the boot. He’ll have to go back to playing with dolls.

With our little sunshine gone, the forecast for next week looks very gloomy indeed.

Welcome to my new blog! I'm going to dish about my favorite show, Project Runway. Yes, I still consider it my favorite show, despite the fact that this season is more about friction than fashion. What other choices do I have? Watching that damn Chicken George on Big Brother? No thanks.

OK, we're already halfway through the season and I've always said it's better to arrive fashionably late anyway, don't you agree? Hopefully, I can inject a little bit of humor into a season that is sorely lacking it. Enjoy.
